5 tips to know for long car trips this summer

The big crossover of the summer holidays is approaching… We can imagine the picture: the long journey through Pakistan, the traffic jam in the valley, the heatwave, the children stamping their feet in the back seat. Of course, it is often like that, summer…! But there are a few tips for surviving peacefully...
Here are 5 tips to know for long car trips: Adapt Indeed, it will be hot, very hot this afternoon. But this morning, when you left, it wasn't. Think about what vest you'll need to take off - or put on if you're going to ride at night. Keep a little free space in the car, or avoid putting that damn vest in a suitcase at the back of the trunk. And if you have air conditioning, be careful not to overuse it. Little colds love big temperature variations...
Small detail if you are renting a car: make sure it is suitable for your build. It is not very pleasant to bend for several hours in a low body car when you are grown up.

Eat well, and especially drink well Did you know that an hour of driving only "costs" you around 80 calories? It doesn't matter what you think. What is therefore essential during long journeys, more than eating is drinking. No alcohol, of course, but water, juice, and tea, to help keep your mind focused on the road.
However, don't neglect the snacks either. The best plan is fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid fatty foods before hitting the road or during breaks, as they tend to make you sleepy. However, if you've given in to the temptation, stretch your legs a bit before getting back behind the wheel.

Ventilate the vehicle well Putting on the heating or the air conditioning is useful. But in a small, confined space, they can quickly cause headaches and fatigue. There is only one solution to properly oxygenate the cabin: open the window from time to time to renew the air you breathe.
Another little tip: rubbing a cooling wipe on your face can help you breathe easier. Ditto if you breathe in a handkerchief that you have moistened with a little oil of mint, eucalyptus, or lemon balm.

Know how to rest To experience a long road trip well, it is essential to take breaks. It is advisable to take a break every 2 hours if only 5 minutes. A small cup of tea or coffee now and then also helps fight fatigue. Important: When taking a break, do not remain seated in the car, especially if you are prone to back pain. Get out, move a little, stretch… this will reactivate your blood circulation.
If the need arises, do not hesitate to take a longer break for meals. You can also take the opportunity to close your eyes a little. Recline the seat as far as possible and let yourself go. Warning: do not sleep more than 20 minutes. Otherwise, it will be very difficult for you to get out of sleep and get back on your feet… And don't worry if you cannot sleep: what is most important is to let oneself (re) win over by serenity.

Ensuring the atmosphere If you're alone in the car, put on some music you like. Be careful not to make the sound too loud so as not to get distracted. If you have children with you, make sure they are well occupied...
